Plastic Waste Management Policy to Strengthen the Blue Economy of Tuban Regency from an Islamic Public Policy Perspective
Abstract
Plastic waste in coastal areas damages marine ecosystems and hinders the development of the blue economy. Tuban Regency, with its marine and marine tourism potential, faces a serious threat from plastic pollution, which impacts fishermen, tourism, and environmental quality. This study aims to examine plastic waste management policies in Tuban and their relevance to strengthening the blue economy from an Islamic public policy perspective. The method used is a desk study, reviewing literature, scientific journals, and related policy documents. The Tuban Regency government's policies on plastic waste management, such as waste banks and educational programs, are still partially integrated with the blue economy framework. From an Islamic perspective, waste management is a mandate for humans as caliphs on earth, emphasizing environmental preservation and the public good. Therefore, integrating Islamic values into public policy can strengthen a sustainable blue economy strategy in Tuban Regency.
