Optimization of Productive Zakat Funds for Empowering Coastal Communities of the Bengawan Solo River in Bojonegoro Regency Within the Framework of the Blue Economy
Abstract
The utilization of productive zakat funds in Bojonegoro Regency has not yet reached all community groups in need. The potential of zakat as an Islamic social financial instrument needs to be allocated productively to increase the economic independence of communities, particularly in the coastal areas of the Bengawan Solo River. This study aims to analyze the role of productive zakat funds in empowering coastal communities and their relevance to the Blue Economy concept. The research method used is a literature review by reviewing national and international journals, books, and policy documents. The results of the study indicate that productive zakat can serve as a sharia financial instrument to support financing for small businesses in coastal communities, particularly in the inland fisheries, MSMEs, and wetland agriculture sectors. However, implementation still faces challenges such as limited literacy and a lack of synergy between institutions. and weak innovation in zakat management. It recommends strengthening collaboration between BAZNAS, regional governments, and local communities by integrating productive zakat into the Blue Economy framework.
