Blue Economy and Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia from The Perspective of Maqashid Syari'ah
Abstract
The blue economy emphasizes the optimal and sustainable use of marine resources, striking a balance between economic, social, and environmental aspects. This is in line with maqashid syari’ah, which is oriented towards the preservation of the five main aspects of life, namely religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-aql), wealth (hifz al-mal) and lineage (hifz al-nasl), and expanded to include environmental preservation and lineage (hifz al-bi’ah), as stated by Yusuf Al-Qardawi. Through a qualitative approach and literature study, this research demonstrates that integrating the blue economy with maqashid al-syari’ah can provide a normative and spiritual foundation for the formulation of marine policy in Indonesia. Thus, the application of the blue economy not only supports the achievement of SDGs, especially SDG 14 (Life Below Water), but also strengthens the value of benefits for current and future generations.
