The Role of the Blue Economy in Increasing Fisheries Product Exports through MSMEs in Sidoarjo Regency
Abstract
This study examines how the blue economy can contribute to increasing fishery product exports through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Sidoarjo Regency. The blue economy has emerged as an appropriate approach to support marine-based economic growth, in line with the increasing attention to marine resource sustainability. This study aims to determine how the application of blue economy principles can help MSME fishery products to be more competitive in the international market. A quantitative approach with descriptive and inferential analysis was used as the research method, involving 60 fishery MSMEs that have applied blue economy principles in their practices. Based on the research findings, the application of the blue economy has a significant positive effect on increasing the export of MSME fishery products. The main factors that influence export performance are the application of the blue economy itself, product quality, and access to international markets. This research provides insights into how blue economy policies and practices can improve the competitiveness of MSME fishery products in the global market. It also suggests collaboration between the government, the private sector, and MSMEs to overcome challenges in accessing international markets and implementing environmentally friendly technologies.
