Abstract
This study aims to examine the early historical role of Sunan Drajat in spreading Islam in the Lamongan region of East Java. As one of the Walisongo figures, Sunan Drajat is known for his humanistic, egalitarian, and socially oriented approach to Islamic preaching. The research focuses on the moral and social values, as well as the concept of Pepali Pitu, applied by Sunan Drajat in spreading Islam during the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
The study uses a library research approach. The findings show that Sunan Drajat spread Islam not only through spiritual teachings but also by instilling moral values such as tolerance and honesty, social values such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and justice, as well as the Pepali Pitu teachings, which include wise life principles such as avoiding arrogance and encouraging nonviolent conflict resolution. These values made his preaching more easily accepted by society.
