Kiprah KH Yusuf Masyhar dalam Mengembangkan Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur’an Tebuireng Jombang Tahun 1971-1994

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the role of KH. Muhammad Yusuf Masyhar in his efforts to establish and develop the Tebuireng Jombang Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School. Data collection techniques are carried out using historical research methods, namely heuristics (data collection), verification (criticism of data), interpretation (interpretation), and historiography (writing history). The study uses a descriptive qualitative method that aims to describe the role of KH. Yusuf Masyhar in establishing the Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School. Research activities are carried out by collecting data from various sources and existing literature. Through this method, researchers collect data from various sources, both oral sources in the form of interviews and written sources such as books, journals, theses and so on. This article focuses on three formulations of the problem to be studied, namely: (1) How is the biography of KH. Yusuf Masyhar (2) How is the historical process of the establishment of the Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School? (3) How is the role of KH. Yusuf Masyhar in developing the Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School? From the results of the research conducted by the author, it shows that KH. Muhammad Yusuf Masyhar has a great influence in the development process of the Madrasatul Qur'an Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding School (MQ Tebuireng). The MQ Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding School was founded by KH. Yusuf Masyhar in 1971. The institution was initially officially established under the name Madrasatul Huffadz and over time changed to Madrasatul Qur'an. The MQ Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School was born from the realization of the ideals of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari who had a great desire to establish an Al-Qur'an educational institution, because he really loved the students who memorized the Al-Qur'an (hafidz). The Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School developed rapidly due to the hard work and sincerity of KH. Yusuf Masyhar who was willing to sacrifice his wealth, energy and mind, until the Madrasatul Qur'an Islamic boarding school became one of the largest Al-Qur'an Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. In caring for these students who memorized the Al-Qur'an, he never expected anything in return except for the reward of glory from Allah SWT in the hereafter.
