Peran Tradisi Baritan dalam Memperkuat Identitas Budaya di Trenggalek: Studi Kasus Desa Salamwates Kecamatan Dongko
Abstract
Salamwates Village, Dongko District, Trenggalek Regency. This custom is held once a year in the month of Suro. The day and date of the ceremony are determined by the elders (handlers) with the supporters of the Baritan traditional ceremony activities being the farmers of the Salamwates Village community, Dongko sub-district, by slaughtering a goat and offering equipment in the form of ambeng (white rice), longkong and a rope made from bamboo called "dhadhung " and pray together. After the ceremony is finished, it continues with performances of Langen Tayub arts and other arts. The aim of the Baritan Traditional Ceremony is to express gratitude to Allah SWT because the people of Salamwates Village have been given health, peace and prosperity in the fields of animal husbandry and agriculture. abundant and satisfying harvests. The research method used is a qualitative approach. Meanwhile, the type of research uses descriptive qualitative. The main data source uses interview results. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, documentation and using additional data obtained from literature studies and articles that are appropriate to the discussion. The aim of this research is to explore how the Baritan tradition is not only a celebration, but also a means of strengthening the cultural identity of the Trenggalek people. This research can involve analyzing the history, symbolism and values contained in these traditions and their impact on the younger generation.
