Analysis Of Margot’s Character In The Menu And How She Overcomes Her Problems
Abstract
This study examines the character of Margot, the main character in Mark Mylod's 2022 film, The Menu. In this thriller, a woman shrouded in mystery joins her partner for an exclusive dining experience on a remote island. She discovers a sinister scheme orchestrated by the renowned chef, which goes far beyond her bounds. The investigation also explores Margot's problem-solving methods. This study utilizes Edgar V. Roberts' theory of characterization, a framework suitable for literary analysis. This theory focuses on Margot's actions, words, and thoughts, and how other characters perceive her. This research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The film's narrative and dialogue serve as primary sources Critical reviews and related analyses provide secondary data. Through this methodology, this study seeks to understand how each aspect of Margot's character contributes to her ability to adapt and survive in a dangerous situation. The findings indicate that Margot embodies the traits of brave, strong determination, and clever. Her actions and communication reflect these traits. Armed with these traits, she successfully overcomes the challenges she faces. She defies the norms established by Chef Slowik and ultimately escapes danger. This unique personality proved to be a key factor in Margot's success in escaping life-threatening.
