This research aims to explain the forms of politeness and the causes of language impoliteness in Gus Iqdam's lectures. The data in this research are speeches from Gus Iqdam's lecture in June 2024 on the YouTube channel. The data collection method used was the listening and note-taking technique. The results of the research found several politeness and violations of politeness principles. Violations of politeness principles occur more often because the speaker makes a lot of jokes to lighten the atmosphere, but the jokes made by the speaker seem impolite and have the potential to harm many parties. The linguistic factor that determines language politeness in this data is the use of word order, including the use of various languages, namely the use of foul language, the use of dirty words, and the use of language styles, namely allegory. Meanwhile, nonverbal factors that determine politeness are the background of the communication situation and social culture.
