Author Guidlines

Authors who wish to submit their manuscripts to Proceedings of International Conference on Islamic Counseling Studies (ICONICS) must follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth and consistent publication process. All manuscripts should be based on original work and relevant to the field of Islamic Guidance and Counseling.

1. Manuscript Types Accepted

ICONICS accepts the following types of articles:

  • Empirical research papers

  • Conceptual or theoretical papers

  • Case studies

  • Best practices and reflective essays related to Islamic counseling

2. Language

Manuscripts must be written in Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic or English, using clear academic language and proper grammar. Authors are responsible for the quality of the language used.

3. Manuscript Format

  • File type: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • Paper size: A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm)

  • Margins: 3 cm (top, bottom, left, right)

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Spacing: 1.5

  • Length: 4,000 – 7,000 words (including references)

  • Citation style: APA Style 7th Edition

  • Articles must include page numbers

4. Structure of the Manuscript

Each manuscript should contain the following elements:

  1. Title (clear, specific, and no more than 15 words)

  2. Author(s)’ name(s), affiliation(s), and email address (include ORCID ID if available)

  3. Abstract (150–250 words in English and Bahasa Indonesia)

  4. Keywords (3–5 words)

  5. Introduction

  6. Methodology

  7. Results and Discussion

  8. Conclusion and Recommendations

  9. References

5. Originality and Plagiarism

  • The manuscript must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.

  • All submissions will be screened for plagiarism.

  • A similarity index of no more than 20% is allowed.

6. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the ICONICS submission system or email [insert email].

  • Authors are required to register and follow the submission steps as guided.

  • A confirmation email will be sent after successful submission.

7. Review Process

  • All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review.

  • Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.

  • The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

8. Article Processing Charge (APC)

  • An APC of IDR 150,000 is applied for each accepted manuscript (see Article Processing Charge section for details).

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright.

  • Articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
