Plagiarism Policy

Proceedings of International Conference on Islamic Counseling Studies (ICONICS) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism to uphold academic integrity and originality.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, data, or ideas from other sources without proper citation.

  • Submitting someone else's work as one’s own.

  • Using large portions of previously published work, including the author's own, without appropriate referencing (self-plagiarism).

  • Failing to properly quote or attribute content derived from another source.

2. Screening for Plagiarism

  • All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools).

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references, quotes, and common phrases) will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity.

3. Handling Plagiarism Cases

If plagiarism is detected, the editorial board will:

  • Notify the author(s) and request clarification or revision.

  • Reject the manuscript in cases of major plagiarism.

  • Ban the author(s) from future submissions in severe or repeated cases.

  • Inform affiliated institutions if necessary.

4. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cites any sources or ideas taken from other works.

  • Authors are responsible for checking and ensuring their manuscript complies with ethical writing and citation standards before submission.

ICONICS is committed to promoting ethical scholarly publishing and will take all necessary steps to prevent and address any form of academic misconduct.
